For those who thought Frenkie de Jong’s saga with Manchester United was over, here’s a story which says the chances of his move to Old Trafford are pretty much alive.
As reported by Jijantes earlier today, the midfielder’s agent Ali Dursun has landed in Barcelona on a flight from London, where he’s set to meet the Camp Nou side to speak of his situation.
Sport now writes that the Catalan giants are asking the player to reduce his wages, as that will give them some huge help to achieve other signings at the end of the transfer window.
Now there’s a chance De Jong won’t accept that, and that’s where the possibility of a transfer comes in, as Barça would then ‘open the option’ of a move to Chelsea or Manchester United.
Sport claims that the La Liga side are aware the player’s entourage have been ‘negotiating’ with the Red Devils in the past few days, and also takes claims from the Dutch media which say there are chances he could accept an Old Trafford move in the final days of the market.
So depending on how today’s meeting between Barça and Ali Dursun goes, Manchester United’s path to sign De Jong could become way clearer.
