Oriol Romeu’s time on the pitch at Southampton this season has been restricted to 363 minutes in the Premier League, and the midfielder has only started four matches.

El Gol Digital talks about Spanish players moving to England to have a ‘good experience’, but then returning to Spain after failing to impress during their time here.

However, the Saints player does not fit into this category as he has been in the top flight English club competition for a while and has been a key player for his current employer previously.

Things have changed for the former Chelsea man at St Mary’s Stadium this term and it has alerted clubs in the La Liga.

The report mentions that Real Betis are ‘very attentive’ to the Spaniard’s ‘delicate situation’ on the south coast.

Quique Setién’s side could use a lack of minutes to test for Romeu’s signing and if they manage to secure his services, he could replace Javi Garcia at Betis as the latter is looking for a club where he will get regular minutes.

Southampton have parted ways with Mark Hughes and it should be seen whether the arrival of a new manager can change Romeu’s fortune with his current side.
