Flamengo are working on signing Arsenal’s Jorginho, which has already been confirmed by their sporting director, José Boto.

The Brazilian club have made an offer, and Boto claims the midfielder needs to make a decision. The 33-year-old’s contract at Arsenal expires in June and he’s expected to leave as a free agent.

Earlier this week, Jorginho arrived in Rio de Janeiro and insisted that he was on vacation with his family. However, the Brazilian club are publicly talking about their desire to secure his services.

Lance! claim the Arsenal player’s visit to Rio de Janeiro will allow him to hold talks with Flamengo.

Flamengo president Luiz Eduardo Baptista, also known as Bap, made an ‘unusual request’ to the club’s supporters over signing the Brazil-born Italy international. Lance! have relayed his comments.

“I ask those who have faith to pray for Jorginho’s wife [fiancée Catherine Harding] to like Rio de Janeiro,” he said.

This indicates Jorginho’s family needs convincing for Flamengo to stand a chance to sign him for free.

Journalist Bruno Lemos took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to provide more updates. He posted a picture of Jorginho with his agent, João Santos, in Rio de Janeiro.

Lemos claims the representative should carry out a meeting with the South American club ‘this week’.
