With recent reports claiming that Manchester City are interested in the signing of AC Milan midfielder Rafael Leão, it wouldn’t be a shock to see the Rossoneri getting worried about a potential attempt from Pep Guardiola’s side.
However, as Calcio Mercato features a story on the situation today, they claim that the Serie A club actually ‘aren’t scared’ of losing the 22-year-old.
It’s said Milan have ‘no intention’ of ‘depriving themselves’ of the young star, especially in the middle of the season. In fact, the intention is to give him a new contract.
The Rossoneri are said to already be in contacts to renew his current deal, which expires in 2024, until 2026, and it’s said the negotiations have been on for ‘a few weeks’.
Milan are willing to raise Leão’s year salary from €2m to around €4m with bonuses, and even though there’s no white smoke, it’s said there’s ‘great confidence’ from the Italian giants that the player will end up staying.
So there’s no fear of Manchester City for now, even though we all know how a bag full of money can always change clubs’ stances in the transfer market.
