Leeds United are keen on Bordeaux striker Alberth Elis and have already made a bid to take him to Elland Road.
That’s according to L’Equipe, who cover the Whites efforts to get the 26-year-old out of Bordeaux today.
They report that the French side have ‘been approached’ by several clubs for players Junior Onana, Ui-Jo Hwang and Elis, while Sekou Mara is also being courted.
Bordeaux need to sell players this summer after being relegated to Ligue 2, and as a result, they are ‘preparing for an eventful summer’.
They’re planning for between 16-18 departures from the club, and Elis is one of those who is likely to go as he is among the most valuable.
He is ‘expected to be sold’ and is already ‘attracting interest’ from Leeds. Indeed, offers have already arrived for him and Junior Onana.
There is no mention of the nature of this bid from Leeds, but it should be made clear that Elis is only technically on loan with the French side from Boavista.
They have an option to make that permanent for €7.5m, which it seems they will do before moving him on to Elland Road, presumably for a profit.
Whatever they’re looking for remains to be seen, but it will certainly be above that €7.5m figure Bordeaux have to pay to make his loan a permanent one.
