On January 15th, we carried a report from DH in Belgium, who explained Crystal Palace could allow Christian Benteke to go out on loan in the winter market.
It was also suggested Aston Villa are interested in the 29-year-old and their interest had been known for several weeks.
The Belgium international has also been linked with a move to Bordeaux, and L’Equipe takes a look at this in today’s edition of the French newspaper.
It’s claimed the Ligue 1 side are in the market looking for an attacker, which is why they considered taking the former Liverpool man on loan for the remainder of the season. They even approached Roy Hodgson’s side for his transfer.
However, Paulo Sousa’s side will not sign the frontman this month because of the finances of the operation.
According to the report, the Eagles demanded €500,000 as a loan fee and this, coupled with Benteke’s wages, was deemed ‘too high’ for the French side.
Therefore, Bordeaux will not take Benteke on loan in January and are now looking at Benfica’s Yony González.
