Italian side Spezia have confirmed the signing of Everton youngster Halid Djankpata, who will take the number 82 shirt at the club.
Tuttomercatoweb cover the press release from Spezia today, announcing that they have ‘definitively acquired’ the youngster.
They report that the Djankpata has signed a deal with Spezia until 30th June 2027, with the option of a year’s extension.
It marks a return to Italy for Djankpata, who grew up in Italy but moved to Everton’s youth team in July 2021. He’s been with them since and made 68 appearances in total for the U18s and U21s.
He hadn’t yet stepped up or been given his chance in the Everton first-team and he’s decided to head back to Italy for first-team football with Spezia instead.
They’re very happy with the deal, describing him as a midfielder with ‘excellent technical qualities, dynamism and great athletic skills’.
The Italian side are particularly pleased to have signed an Italian youth player too, with Djankpata having featured for Italy’s Under 19s earlier this year.
There’s no mention of the price they’ve paid Everton for him, just the fact that he’s been acquired permanently and is now set to get underway at his new club.
