Chelsea’s failed attempt to get Andrey Santos a work permit has now sent a bunch of Brazilian clubs into overdrive.
We’ve already covered a couple of claims from Brazil regarding the interest from a few clubs in the Blues midfielder, with Palmeiras and Internacional having his preference, while Vasco de Gama, his former club, are said to have a clause in the deal that gives them a priority when it comes to a loan.
The problem for the latter here is that the Chelsea midfielder will have the final say, and with the Stamford Bridge side preferring to send him to a club that plays the Libertadores, as that would get him three points for his visa when he only needs one, other options are to be considered.
Palmeiras are one of those, and UOL have an article claiming the Brazilian side are already ‘moving hard behind the scenes to guarantee the signing’ of the young player ‘as soon as possible’.
It’s also added that while Chelsea were initially only open to a move until June, the Verdão ‘heard in the last few hours that the deal could be valid until December’.
Their next port of call is ‘reaching an agreement with the player himself’.
Considering they are reportedly one of Andrey’s favoured choices, that shouldn’t be too much of an issue, but it means that Chelsea fans, if this goes through, will have to wait a bit longer to see their January signing on a Premier League pitch.
