Napoli have no intention of signing Tanguy Ndombele on a permanent basis from Tottenham this summer when his loan spell comes to an end.
That’s according to journalist Umberto Chiariello, who says the Frenchman has failed to convince the Serie A leaders into signing him.
Ndombele has been on loan with Napoli since the summer, when he was shipped out by Tottenham, who have made it clear he is not a part of their plans moving forwards.
The belief was that he could start afresh with the Italian side but that has not been the case, with Ndombele failing to make any sort of impact in Naples.
He has been a regular this season for them but only from the bench, earning just six starts in the league and featuring in just 29% of the available minutes.
That is unlikely to change drastically before the end of the season either as Napoli look destined to end up as champions and Luciano Spalletti sticks to a side that has served him well so far.
Chiariello confirms as much, making it clear that Napoli have no intention of using the purchase clause that Tottenham included in the midfielder’s loan deal.
“Elmas can take Zielinski’s place,” Mondo Napoli report him saying.
“He has shown himself to be a real factor in the goal area, surpassing even Ndombele in the Napoli hierarchy. The former Tottenham man will not be redeemed at the end of the season.”
