If you followed Manchester City’s dealings in the last transfer window relatively closely, you might have seen the signing of Issa Kaboré.
The Burkina Faso international was brought in from KV Mechelen a year after he transferred there from his local club, Rahimo FC, with the Premier League club spending around £4m to get him.
He was almost immediately sent on loan to KV Mechelen, where he has been a regular in the Jupiler Pro League, picking up two assists in 10 appearances.
The 19-year-old has impressed, and has, along the way, caught the eye of Marseille in France, who are in need of a right-back.
Agreeing to sell Bouna Sarr to Bayern Munich, the Ligue 1 club never got round to replacing him, meaning they’re a bit short in the position, with only Hiroki Sakai as a natural.
To remedy that, Téléfoot La Chaîne, relayed by Foot Mercato, reported that Marseille’s director of football, Pablo Longoria, has set his sights on Kaboré, deemed an ‘interesting profile’.
There’s talk of them making a move as early as January, with the same outlet claiming a deal of around €5m would be enough.
Considering that would only be a profit of around £500k for Manchester City, we find that hard to believe, but we’ll have to wait and see.
