Jürgen Klopp publicly expressed his desire to sign a new midfielder towards the end of the summer window, and Liverpool fulfilled the manager’s wish by bringing Arthur on loan from Juventus on deadline day.

Prior to completing the deal for the Brazilian, the Reds were keen on securing Real Madrid star Federico Valverde’s services.

On September 13th, AS reported Liverpool were willing to pay €100m to Los Blancos for the 24-year-old, in the last two days of the window. The La Liga winners were not ready to sell their star, after letting Casemiro seal a move to Manchester United.

Fichajes.net have relayed this claim in their latest report and then give their own take on the Merseyside club’s plans to sign the Uruguay international in the future.

Liverpool will look to bolster their midfield after this season and Carlo Ancelotti’s man will be on their agenda again.

It’s claimed the Champions League winners ‘already know’ Klopp’s side are interested in the South American and that they will ‘try again’ to sign him next summer.

Although Fichajes.net claim Liverpool will try taking the player away from Real Madrid in 2023, they don’t mention whether or not Valverde is open to making a switch to Anfield.
