Brazilian side Santos reportedly came close to signing Evandro Goebel from Hull City on Wednesday.

As reported by Gazeta Esportiva, the move only didn’t happen because the clubs didn’t find time to complete it, since the Brazilian window for international transfers closed last night.

The website says that Evandro had been offered a while ago, and although he sounded too expensive, things started moving on Wednesday.

The 32-year-old, whose contract with Hull City expires at the end of the season, would have an agreement to leave the Tigers now. And although Santos accepted his demands by 6PM, there wasn’t time for the transfer, since Brazil currently has a time difference of four hours to England.

“The problem was the time in an operation that demanded a lot of work,” Santos president José Carlos Peres told Gazeta Esportiva.

With Evandro being offered around, including to Brazilian clubs, it’s fair to say it’s likely he’s leaving the Tigers at the end of the season.

He has 19 appearances for Hull City this season.
