Internacional have ‘advanced’ their negotiations with Aston Villa for striker Wesley Moraes, who could be set to leave Club Brugge to join the Brazilian side.
That’s according to UOL, who cover the player’s future today after several reports over the last few weeks regarding a potential move to Brazil for the Villa man.
Wesley is currently on loan in Belgium after being sent out by Aston Villa in the summer but has struggled since arriving, with just three league games to his name.
Brugge are keen to bring his loan to an end, but as he has played for them and Aston Villa this season, he cannot play for another European club until next season.
UOL now report that they have ‘advanced in negotiations’ with Villa for the player, with a year-long loan deal on the table.
Their ‘goal’ is to win the battle with Sao Paulo for his signature and secure Wesley’s signature once his loan deal with Brugge has been terminated.
Their offer is a one-year loan without a purchase clause, which is exactly the same as what Sau Paulo have offered for him.
Furthermore, the ‘natural barriers’ for the club have ‘already been overcome’, as they have managed to relieve some of their wage budget with departures of their own.
Their hope is that they can convince the Aston Villa striker into the move, with it felt that coach Alexander Medina’s style would suit him and help to get the best out of him.
Sau Paulo are a big problem, though, as they have two ‘assets’ to help them secure a deal. The first of those is Rogerio Ceni, who contacted the player to talk him into the move, and the fact they are Sau Paulo, which offers more of a ‘spotlight’.
It will be up to the player to decide, and that won’t be long coming, with it felt his agents and Aston Villa will define his future ‘by the end of the week’.
