Thibaut Courtois has one year left on his current deal at Chelsea and he hasn’t shown any signs of wanting to renew.

Belgian newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws claims the goalkeeper is a transfer target for Real Madrid. The two clubs are in ‘advance discussions’ for the player the ‘light is almost green’ for Courtois to return to the Spanish capital club.

For the Blues to allow the former Atletico Madrid star leave Stamford Bridge, they must first bring in a replacement, and AS Roma goalkeeper Alisson Becker has long been linked with a move to Chelsea.

Real have already informed Courtois that they would offer him a five-year deal worth €13m-a-year, but the La Liga giants have to make the final call internally. No deal has been agreed yet, but both clubs are willing to do business and are in close contact.

Chelsea were hoping to demand €50m for Courtois, but his insistence to not renew his contract has seen the Blues willing to lower the asking price in the last few weeks. The goalkeeper hopes to have more clarity from Real as he wants to return to Madrid in order to be closer to his children.

These claims are similar to what El Confidencial has already stated this week.
