Considering how much the Italian press have gone on about it since the start of the season, West Ham United fans will know that Nikola Vlasic is having a great time in Torino.
His form with the Serie A side under Ivan Juric on loan away from the Hammers guaranteed him a space in Croatia’s World Cup squad, where they will face Argentina in the semi-finals after seeing off Brazil on penalties in the quarters.
There has been talk for quite some time about Torino wanting to make the move permanent, and they have an agreement with West Ham to do so by paying the London side €15m.
Of course, it in true Italian fashion, they are trying to lower that despite him excelling, and that is what Tuttosport, relayed by TuttoMercatoWeb, discuss on Monday.
They point out he has already agreed a contract until 2027 with Torino in case they do trigger the clause, and now it’s up to the two clubs to shake hands on a deal.
As for how his success in Italy, that hasn’t come as a surprise to Sasa Bjelanovic, who played for the Serie A side between 2007 and 2009.
Speaking to Toronews, he said: “I was curious to see how he would fare in Italy, but I was also convinced that he would do well. I’ve known him since Hajduk Split, and I know that he has qualities and characteristics suitable for Italian football and suitable for Juric. I am happy that he is proving to be an excellent signing for Torino.”
