Arsenal midfielder Marcelo Flores is on his way out of the club, according to reports from Spain.
Outlet El Comercio (via El Desmarque) writes there’s a total agreement for the player to be announced ‘in the next few hours’ by La Liga side Real Oviedo.
The story doesn’t make it clear whether Flores would be moving on a loan or a permanent transfer, despite claiming there’s a ‘closed deal’ for the move.
It’s been a while since the Mexican media started wondering if the midfielder should stay at Arsenal, especially after he was left out of the pre-season squad managed by Mikel Arteta.
Despite being only 18, the player is often seen as a candidate to play in the World Cup this year.
So a move away from Arsenal, even if temporary, could certainly give him the chance to play for more minutes and get the Tri’s attention to represent them in the tournament later this year.
Flores’ contract with Gunners runs until 2023, with the club having an option to extend it for two extra years.
ESPN Mexico confirms Oviedo’s interest, claiming there are only’ details’ for the move to be done.
They say Arsenal are willing to let him go on a loan, as long as there’s no option for a permanent move, as he’s seen as one of their biggest prospects.
Besides Oviedo, other sides from Europe and MLS are said to be interested as well.
