After his agent confirmed Manchester City’s offer on Wednesday, Jorginho’s move to the Premier League champions is edging closer and closer, and today could be key.
CalcioNapoli24, who appear to have been ahead of most people on this one, report on Thursday morning that a meeting is expected to take place between Napoli’s director of football, Cristiano Giuntoli, and Jorginho’s entourage to discuss an exit.
The Serie A runners-up are said to have already rejected a €45m offer from Manchester City for their midfield star, while Pep Guardiola’s side baulked at Aurelio de Laurentiis’ counter offer of €55m.
There’s now a belief a middle ground could be found between the two clubs, one that would cost €47-48m up front with a handful of small bonuses to round it up to around €50m.
The website believe the ‘white smoke’, meaning the green light, for the transfer is edging nearer, helped by the fact Manchester City have already agreed a contract with Jorginho, which they also reported on Wednesday.
The 26-year-old was a key member of Napoli’s season, making 39 appearances, scoring four goals and picking up four assists.
