Earlier this evening we covered a report from AS which stated Martin Odegaard to Arsenal could be imminent, and that negotiations between Real Madrid and Arsenal are very advanced.
The move has been in the pipeline for a number of weeks, with the Norway international quickly coming to the conclusion that he’d continue to be a bit part player for Los Blancos if he stayed around under Carlo Ancelotti.
Marca are now backing up AS’s report, and they independently state the move is imminent. The Spanish newspaper report the deal between Madrid and the Gunners is ‘practically closed’.
A deal for Odegaard’s return to the Premier League club is ‘close to completion’, and it’s stated that this time the player will be moving on a full transfer rather than a loan basis.
Only the ‘fringes’ of a deal are remaining to be agreed, and it’s thought the transfer can be finalised in the coming hours or days.
Marca don’t mention a transfer fee, and neither did AS. That could be because they don’t know yet, or perhaps Madrid are reluctant to share it right now, with it likely being for a fee much lower than they’d initially wanted.
