A few days ago, we covered claims from Portugal which stated Leeds United have made a €30m offer for Otavio.

The situation clearly looked like the Whites trying to line up a replacement for Raphinha, should the Brazilian leave Elland Road this summer.

That €30m offer was dismissed, and Saturday’s edition of A Bola insists the Leeds United bid was ‘clearly insufficient’. There had been claims the Whites could return with €40m, yet even that may not be enough to secure the Portugal international.

Some confusion had appeared around Otavio’s release clause, and A Bola now state it’s €60m and that’s what Porto would point interested clubs in the direction of.

The 27-year-old was named in the Portuguese league team of the season on Friday, and it’s once again highlighted what an important player he is for his club. Sérgio Conceição wouldn’t want to see the back of him, and given the business Porto have already been involved in over the past six months, there’s the genuine danger of them angering the manager if they sell for less than he feels a player is worth.

On top of that is whether Otavio would be keen on a move to Leeds United anyway. Porto won two trophies last season and have again secured Champions League football.

This looks like a very difficult deal for the Yorkshire club to conclude.

As a side note, the player is getting married on Saturday so almost certainly won’t be concerning himself with transfer contact.
