After the 2016/17 season, Hull City were relegated from the Premier League and goalkeeper Eldin Jakupović left the Tigers and made a switch to Leicester City.
The 34-year-old is behind Danny Ward and Kasper Schmeichel in the pecking order and the presence of the Denmark international in the squad makes it difficult for Jakupović to find his way into the starting XI.
This is something the keeper was aware of before he arrived at Leicester.
“It was clear even before I moved that Kasper would be number 1, I never had a real chance. He is a super goalie, for me he belongs to the top 5 of the league,” Jakupović was quoted as saying by Blick.
In his debut season at the King Power Stadium, the Swiss international only made two appearances in the Premier League, which were against Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur. The stopper had two more appearances in cup competitions with the Foxes, but is yet to feature this term.
Even though Jakupović and Schmeichel push each other, they make sure to have enough fun in training.
The seniors goalkeepers play a training game with stoppers from the youth team, and it can be painful to lose.
“If you lose, you have to stand on the line and bend over, and the others are allowed to shoot,” the squad player explained.
