ESPN Brasil have published a story covering Fearless Foxes, an exhibition at the New Walk Museum which celebrates Leicester City’s Premier League title heroics.
Brazilian reporter João Castello Branco managed to get an interview with the responsible man for all of it, the Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri.
Asked if he believes that Leicester City have fans in Brazil given that they’re now Premier League champions, the manager said: “No, I didn’t believe that. But I heard something. Around the world, there arrived messages, letters, everything. Because the fairytale of Leicester was really something special and all the world was involved with us. And we felt something special.”
Ranieri agreed that a miracle can’t happen twice: “Yes, of course. But also, only three teams won the Premier League in a row. It was Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal. And then we’re Leicester, we can’t fight it. One year was a surprise, it was a fairy tale, but now we have to stay calm, with our feet on the ground and start to fight again.”
The manager left a message at the exhibition saying ‘Leicester City my life’. Asked why he says that, he answered: “Because I fought a lot to win the title in Italy, Spain, France. And I always got very close. But here I achieved the title, at 64 years old. And it was good. It was amazing.”
Claudio Ranieir is such a nice guy, and so well liked wherever he’s been, that Leicester City’s victory was welcomed around Europe even more so, not just for the underdog element. And also in Brazil!
