Newcastle United last night sent scouts to the game between Anderlecht and Gabala, according to claims in the Belgian media. The Championship side are no strangers to signing players from the Jupiler League after landing Aleksander Mitrovic and Matz Sels in recent transfer windows.

Purplespirit have confirmed Newcastle United officials attended last night’s Europa League tie, which Anderlecht won 3-1. The North East side were joined by other clubs including Manchester City, Arsenal, Borussia Dortmund and Valencia.

It’s been claimed by Purplesprit the attention would likely have been on Anderlecht youngsters Youri Tielemans and Leander Dendoncker. Tielemans in particular has been linked with a move to England in the past 18 months after impressing for the Belgian club.

In the past few seasons Belgium has been producing some of the best young talent in Europe, which has resulted in clubs from across Europe traveling to the country to see what youngsters are coming through the system, hopefully getting an advantage when it comes to transfers.
