Manchester City’s reported bid for the Grêmio forward Everton is now being dismissed by both his club and his agent.
Brazilian outlet Zero Hora interviewed the club’s CEO Carlos Amoedo and the player’s representative Gilmar Veloz, and both claimed they know nothing about such offer.
“There’s absolutely nothing,” said Amoedo, who’s been taking care of Grêmio’s transfers.
Besides claiming not to have heard about the bid, Gilmar Veloz, the player’s agent, has also told Zero Hora there would be a chance for the player to leave if a good opportunity for all involved turned up: “Everton recently renewed contract. He understands that he has to continue working at the club. Unless Grêmio comes in and says there’s a good deal for everyone.”
Zero Hora claims the project Everton and his agent have is to find a transfer in the summer, as he would have an easier adaptation if joining a club in preseason rather than midway through the campaign.
The bid denied by Grêmio is the one reported by Radio Grenal this Thursday, as it was claimed that Manchester City had offered £55m to sign the player.
That Everton stopped following Grêmio on Instagram has also helped the rumours grow, but it’s since been claimed that accidental.
