Following his outburst at the weekend explaining he could very well end up having to look somewhere else for time on the pitch, James Rodriguez has decided to return home to Colombia to spend some time with family over Christmas and New Year’s.

Linked with both Manchester United and Chelsea over the past week or so, the Real Madrid star’s return to his home country has also led to speculation business could be a part of it, with El Colombiano explaining the player is using this time to apply for a British visa.

If this is true, this would only increase speculation that a move to either Stamford Bridge or Old Trafford could be on the cards, with Marca this morning reporting that José Mourinho’s side lack of Champions League could work in their favour.

El Colombiano also report the player is likely to remain in Bogotá, the country’s capital, until the paperwork is finished at the English embassy before travelling to Medellín.

Real Madrid are said to be against any movement from the player this winter, preferring a transfer to be sorted out next summer, when they will once again be able to buy players, including a replacement for James were he to leave.

Of course, if the attacking midfielder makes it clear he wants to leave, with either Antonio Conte or Jose Mourinho proving very convincing, things could change rather quickly.
