According to a claim in the Italian media, Rangers defender Bruno Alves has agreed to sign for Serie A side Parma, despite the possibility they could be denied promotion to the top flight.
The Portugal international has been linked with the Italian club strongly in recent weeks and it’s thought he’s ready to rip up his Rangers contract.
Gazzamercato.it report Alves has agreed a one year deal. There were claims last week he’d travelled for a medical and an announcement seemed imminent, but things didn’t go so smoothly.
News broke in Italy which put Parma’s place in Serie A in danger. There were allegations their forward Emanuele Calaio tried to illegally influence their game against Spezia last season.
At the weekend Alves made comments suggesting he could still remain at Ibrox, and play under Steven Gerrard. The Liverpool legend was installed as Rangers manager in May, and has been planning for Alves’ exit by bringing in Connor Goldson and Nikola Katic.
Alves had a previous spell in Italy with Cagliari before his move to Rangers last summer.
