It had been a while, over a month, in fact, since we heard anything Davide Zappacosta related in the Italian media.

Il Tempo thought that was too long, and decided it was time to throw a curveball at us, throwing a new side into the mix as Inter and Napoli have seemingly either moved on or pushed the Chelsea defender down their list.

Lazio are the club reportedly considering a move for the former Torino man in the coming months, as the Italian newspaper explain there’s a very good chance they’ll sign a right-back, especially if one of either Martin Caceres or Dusan Basta leave in January,

David Zappacosta has barely featured under Maurizio Sarri ever since the former Napoli manager took over from Antonio Conte at Stamford Bridge, which led to the 26-year-old explaining, as early as the end of August that if he didn’t play more, he might have to consider a winter switch.

Since the start of the season, he’s played five times in the Europa League, come on for six minutes in one Premier League game and featured once in the Carabao Cup.

Not exactly swimming in minutes, is he?

Details aren’t given in Il Tempo’s article, but our guess is this will be a loan, seeing as Lazio don’t have the money to refund most of Chelsea’s original £22.5m expense.

We’ll have to wait and see.
