Wolverhampton Wanderers have set their sights on Espanyol’s Vinícius Souza, according to Mundo Deportivo.

The midfielder joined the La Liga side on loan from Lommel last summer and featured 21 times in the league this season.

Mundo state he’s ‘one of the revelations’ of La Liga and his performances have attracted Wolves’ attention.

Julen Lopetegui’s side have the 23-year-old on their agenda and are following him with interest.

Lommel are owned by the City Football Group [CFG], who also own Manchester City. The newspaper states Wolves ‘have an agreement’ with City [likely CFG] for Vinícius to arrive at the Molineux next season.

There’s no mention whether it would be a loan deal or a permanent sale, but it may be the former as Mundo state City [likely CFG] ‘don’t want to release’ the Brazilian.

Espanyol intend to retain the player beyond his loan deal but that’s unlikely to happen, barring a last-minute surprise.

His next destination is likely to be in England and could be specifically at Wolves.

Mundo also warn Lopetegui’s side other clubs could join the battle for Vinícius’s signature in the coming months.
