Sint-Truiden star Aboubakary Koita has been linked with a late move to Watford in the winter market.
On Tuesday, a surprise claim emerged on social media that Watford are set to sign the forward for around £6m. It was also indicated the operation should be concluded soon, without providing the source of the report.
Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to dismiss this claim.
He states the 25-year-old’s camp have ‘denied’ any sort of agreement between the Jupiler Pro League side and Watford for his possible transfer.
The Mauritania international has less than 18 months left on his contract and barring any last-minute surprises, the journalist claims he’s expected to finish the season at STVV.
That should put an end to any sort of speculation of Watford considering a late deal for the attacker, just a day after the rumour surfaced.
Operating on the left wing, Koita has starred for the Belgian club this season, scoring 11 goals and registering an assist from 21 games.
