Turkish TV Channel A Spor claim Fenerbahce rejected an offer from Tottenham Hotspur for Vedat Muriqi during the last January transfer window.

A Spor’s Fener journalist Ahmet Selim Kul claims Spurs knocked on the Turkish club’s door after Harry Kane’s injury and offered €19m to sign Muriqi.

At that time, it’s reported Fenerbahce were looking to receive €28m from the sale of the Kosovo international, and subsequently Tottenham decided to walk away from negotiations.

Fener were still in the title race back then, and Kul reports they didn’t want to lose their star player midway through the season for a cut price fee.

In recent weeks the player has been linked with a summer move to Tottenham, with reports his club could now reduce the asking price.

Muriqi has been a key player this season and has been continuously linked with a move to Premier League clubs since the start of the season. Clubs like West Bromwich Albion, who hope to gain promotion, Southampton and Leicester City have all been linked with a move for the player.

The 26 year old has made 32 appearances for Fenerbahce in all competitions this season, scoring 17 goals and providing 7 assists. His contract will expire at the end of June 2023.
