On Thursday, we covered claims made by Sport that Manchester United are ‘willing’ to make an effort for Lucas Vázquez.
The 29-year-old will see his contract expire at the end of the season and Zinedine Zidane wants Real Madrid to make an effort to retain him.
Claims made by Sport regarding Zidane’s stance on the Spain international are echoed by ABC and they also name the Red Devils as one of the suitors.
Los Blancos are ready to offer a three-year contract and want the winger, who can also operate as a right-back, to take a pay cut on his current salary of €3.5m net per season.
Vázquez isn’t ready to accept these conditions and on top of that, is demanding a pay rise. He wants to earn the last big contract of his career, which he has received from the Old Trafford club.
According to the report, the versatile player is handling several offers, including a four-year proposal from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side. The deal offered by the Premier League club will include a rise in his salary.
Real Madrid have a desire to retain him, but the offers received from Manchester United and elsewhere are ‘better’.
Since the La Liga giants and Vázquez are nowhere close to reaching an agreement, the two are likely to take different paths in the summer.
