Moise Kean will not be returning to Everton this summer, despite the fact Juventus are not particularly keen on keeping him.
That’s according to Gazzetta Dello Sport, who say the striker is ‘linked’ to Juventus regardless of the official agreement stating his stay is dependent on performances.
Kean is currently in the first year of a two year loan with the Italian club, which includes a compulsory purchase clause for it to become permanent next year.
His return to Turin has not gone as well as everyone had hoped, though, and so Juventus have been exploring ways to get out of the agreement for months.
That is something they cannot do, however, with Gazzetta explaining that the ‘substantial obligation’ of €28m plus €3m in bonuses is something they cannot avoid.
The clause ‘in fact automatic’, and so he is set to join Juventus permanently next year whether they like it or not.
They’d prefer to avoid that and would be open to a sale, but at the moment, none of his fans have ‘come forward’ and proposed anything.
The idea at Juventus, though, is to buy Kean from Everton in advance of next year and then turn him over to a different club this year rather than waiting until the clause activates next year.
In other words, Everton could be set to pocket at least €28m a year early if any clubs decides they want to sign Kean from Juventus this summer.
If that doesn’t happen, the Italian is set to remain in Turin as a ‘spare forward’ and then join on a permanent basis next year instead.
That is something Juventus really don’t want to happen, given his performances this year, and the hope is that he can perform between now and the end of the season to ‘attract the attention of any buyers’.
