Earlier this week, Goal in Brazil reported that Antony’s representatives travelled to Europe to hold talks with Manchester United over a potential transfer for the Ajax star.
The winger has played two seasons under Erik ten Hag in Amsterdam and the manager now wants to reunite with the player at Old Trafford.
Brazilian journalist Jorge Nicola has released a video, detailing the efforts made by the Red Devils to sign the 22-year-old this summer.
He claims Ten Hag has identified the ex-São Paulo man as his number one attacking target. At the request of their manager, Manchester United have offered €45m to Ajax.
Nicola states there isn’t a definite answer from the Eredivisie winners, but they are likely to reject the proposal.
That’s because Ajax’s intention is to sell the Brazil international for a higher price. The journalist doesn’t mention the fee the Dutch club are looking for.
Another factor that needs to be taken into account is the changes that have taken place at Ajax off the pitch. Nicola adds their new directors are trying to understand the process before starting to work on the transfer market.
A source close to the South American has informed Nicola that Antony is the main target for Ten Hag and it’s just a matter of time for the negotiations of the deal to be closed.
If United are keen to land the wideman and have already made an offer, then there is likely to be more claims in the English and Dutch press.
Antony managed 12 goals and 10 assists from 32 matches in all competitions last season.
