With Paul Pogba most likely having played his final minutes as a Manchester United player, a replacement will be needed this summer.
Following Ralf Rangnick making it clear there will be a mass clear out this summer to get the squad ready for Erik ten Hag, money will be spent, and a first offer might have even been made for a midfielder.
That man is Sergej Milinković-Savić, who is currently at Lazio, and expected to leave the Serie A side this summer after spending seven years there.
Il Messaggero, relayed by Citta Celeste on Monday, claim that Mateja Kezman, the player’s agent, was present at the Studio Olimpico on Sunday to watch his client play in a game that ended in a 2-1 home loss against Milan for Maurizio Sarri’s men.
His presence there, according to the newspaper, was transfer related, and ‘it seems that he has delivered to the president, Claudio Lotito, the first offers’ for the Serbia international.
In fact, ‘the teams concerned would be Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United, both of which would have offered €65m’.
Whether that’s enough remains to be seen, but the belief is that Lotito might not be ready to accept that sum, and ‘it’s difficult to hypothesise that he will let Milinković-Savić leave for a sum of less than €80m’.
