Throughout much of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s time in charge of Manchester United, he’s had the shadow of Mauricio Pochettino hanging over him.
Many expected the former Tottenham Hotspur manager to be given a shot at Old Trafford sooner or later, but it doesn’t look like the move will be in the short or medium term. The Red Devils are having a reasonably good period, and that’s been the case since they signed Bruno Fernandes from Sporting.
Interestingly, Tottenham made an attempt to sign the Portuguese star when Pochettino was in charge of them, but in the end it was clear they prioritised a move for Giovani Lo Celso instead.
Pochettino is now expected to take over at PSG, after Thomas Tuchel was shown the exit door, however, that’s not the job he wanted, report Sport.
They state Pochettino has had offers from Manchester United and Juventus since leaving Spurs, but held them all off as he waited for Real Madrid.
With the Spanish club now looking relatively secure under Zinedine Zidane, he’s instead set to take the opportunity at PSG, a club he used to play for.
Of course, this sounds like it’s written for a Spanish audience, and perhaps setting the ground to be able to say Real Madrid made a mistake.
