Every now and again the Spanish media push the idea of Sergio Aguero returning to Atletico Madrid, and today is one of those occasions.
At the bottom of an article on Antoine Griezmann and his will-he-won’t-he move to Barcelona this summer, AS cover claims of Aguero being offered back to his previous club.
The suggestion is it’s from people close to the player, rather than Manchester City.
Said to be ‘tired of his career at City’, largely because Pep Guardiola doesn’t see him as an untouchable player, an effort has been made to build a return to Spain. It’s an approach which has been well received at Atletico, according to the claims, and Diego Simeone is said to view the striker ‘with very good eyes’.
But the La Liga club ‘would not go crazy’ when it comes to transfer fee.
So, for any of this to happen, several questionable factors need to be believed.
That Aguero wants out, that he’s expressed that desire, that contact had been made with Atletico, and that Manchester City would offer him up for a reasonable fee.
It’s a long shot.
