Spanish outlet Fichajes today features a story about Liverpool’s long-time hunt for a midfielder who can actually give the ‘balance’ Jurgen Klopp wants for that sector.
The outlet says the Reds are set to finally attend to the manager’s requests and make a big investment on a player with those characteristics.
One of the options on the table is said to be Benfica’s Enzo Fernandez.
It’s claimed that the Liverpool ‘will contact’ the Eagles to find out ‘first-hand’ the player’s situation in Lisbon.
It’s pointed out the Argentine is a ‘very complete midfielder’, ‘capable of attacking and defending in equal parts’, and the Anfield side should now get to know ‘more or less’ the price for a future transfer.
Liverpool’s hunt for Fernandez had already been highlighted by the Portuguese media earlier this week.
We covered a piece from newspaper O Jogo which said both Benfica and the player are unlikely to accept a move in January, so any attempts from the Reds could only be successful next summer.
The midfielder, meanwhile, is very well protected with a €120m release clause.
