Are you tired of reading about Christian Eriksen yet? No? Good, because El Desmarque are not tired of writing about him.

The website have been running Eriksen stories on a near daily basis for most of this year, largely because of the Tottenham midfielder’s consistent links to Real Madrid.
This week was no different, as they first suggested that Madrid were no longer interested in him, and they’ve now followed that up with a story that Barcelona will also not be pursuing him.

El Desmarque claim that Madrid were keen on Eriksen and Florentino Pérez tried to make a move happen, but Eriksen preferred Barcelona.

Barça apparently had a deal lined up to give him his wish, which would have seen Ivan Rakitic and Carlos Aleña heading to Tottenham in exchange for Eriksen.

However, the deal ended up collapsing because of Lionel Messi. He did not want Eriksen to move to the Nou Camp because of his failure to ‘assume responsibility’ in ‘difficult moments’ for Tottenham.

In Messi’s eyes, that failure demonstrated he lacked the character to play for Barcelona and he made that opinion clear to those in charge at the club.

Thus, a move for Eriksen was abandoned and ‘the door in Barcelona and Real Madrid is closed to the Danish star as a result.

He still wants to leave Tottenham but he won’t have offers from Barcelona or Real Madrid as far as El Desmarque are concerned.

Like most of their reports, this seems pretty sensationalist to say the least, particularly the notion that Messi now holds so much power at Barcelona that they are quite literally letting him dictate their transfer policy.

Still, if there’s even an ounce of truth in there, it seems that Eriksen’s dreams of playing for the big clubs in Spain are slowly slipping through his fingers.
