With the news that Harry Maguire had been left out of the Leicester City squad to face Atalanta, it appears the Premier League club are bracing themselves for an exit.
The England international has been a long-term target for Manchester United, who desperately need a centre-back, but his departure would leave a big gap in Brendan Rodgers’ defence, which means a replacement will be needed.
According to Sacha Tavolieri, a journalist who specialises on Belgian football, Leicester have targeted Watford’s Christian Kabasele, who was in and out of Javi Gracia’s plans during the last campaign.
Seen as the ‘ideal replacement’ for the Foxes’ star, the Belgium international does have a contract extension in front of him at Vicarage Road, which the defender has openly discussed in the past, this news might make him think twice about signing it.

After all, if Leicester have targeted him to take Maguire’s place, he would be guaranteed a lot more football at King Power Stadium than he is currently getting at Watford (20 starts in all competitions in 2018-19).
This all seems to rest on the English centre-back, because if he doesn’t leave, then the move for Kabasele move probably won’t happen.
