Gonzalo Montiel’s possible departure from River Plate is something that continues to get some daily coverage from the Argentine media.

Website El Intransigente has a story today saying the Buenos Aires side are already planning to use a youngster to replace the right-back in case he really moves.

The main candidates to sign Montiel continue to be West Ham. The report says there are ‘good chances’ the player could move to the Hammers ‘in the next few days’.

The main condition for that to happen is that David Moyes’ side guarantee their stay in the Premier League for the next season.

Even though Montiel is protected by a release clause of US$20m, El Intransigente says he should leave for a lot less. Both because clubs aren’t in conditions of playing that much, and also because River Plate are in need of money.

The story claims that US$10m should be enough to sign the right-back, and that cash will be more than welcome by the Argentine side.
