Barcelona are not interested in appointing Carlo Ancelotti as their new manager for the 2020/21 season.
This is according to journalist Miguel Rico, who has provided a short update on the last page of today’s edition of Mundo Deportivo.
He claims the Everton manager and Atalanta coach Gian Piero Gasperini are not on the Catalan club’s ‘future agenda’. However, the option of bringing Massimiliano Allegri to Camp Nou is ‘still not explored’.
Last December, the Toffees sacked Marco Silva, when the club were in the relegation zone, and appointed Ancelotti as his successor.
The Merseyside club’s results have improved after the former Chelsea manager took charge at Goodison Park and they are 11th in the table with 49 points, four points behind 10th placed Arsenal.
Everton have gained 30 points from 19 matches under the Italian’s guidance, and Ancelotti is contracted to the English side until 2024.
Barca could replace Quique Setién after this season and have been linked with a handful of candidates so far.
Although Rico has ruled out the possibility of Ancelotti arriving at the Camp Nou, it’s worth noting there has been no concrete reports to suggest the Everton boss is a managerial target for the Spanish giants.
This just seems a preemptive strike.
