Linked to Manchester City towards the end of the transfer window, Cristiano Ronaldo ended up choosing a return to Manchester United to continue his career.

The forward left Juventus, where he felt his time had come to an end, in a €20m+ deal that will see him play in front of the Old Trafford faithful for the next two years.

It all seemed to happen right at the very last, but some are claiming the deal was in the works well before it all came to light.

Le10 Sport are among these, explaining in an article about ‘informal discussions’ Paris Saint-Germain had with Ronaldo’s camp prior to his transfer, and they state the Portuguese superstar was ‘approached by Manchester United well before the end of the transfer window’.

Not only that, but ‘the operation that allowed him to go back to England started well before the end of August’.

Maybe one day we’ll know the exact timeline of this move, but Manchester United fans won’t really care come the end of it, because they signed Ronaldo, and that’s all that matters.
