Such was the relationship between Antonio Conte and Alessandro Bastoni at Inter that no matter what is said, the defender will be linked to Tottenham.
After all, there’s no denying that Spurs could use with an extra centre-back, and the prowess shown by the young Italian under his former manager makes for an easy and logical story.
Just a couple of days ago, it was explained in Italy that Tottenham could decide to make a move for Bastoni going forward, especially since he’s a Conte favourite.
A €50m transfer was mentioned, although it remains to be seen if that will be enough to make Inter give up their prodigy.
If that wasn’t enough, we now have Fichajes explaining that Conte is now ‘asking Tottenham to sign Bastoni’, with it said Spurs join the likes of Manchester City and Real Madrid in admiring the Italian.
They point out that while he’s performing well at Inter, he also ‘gives the impression of needing a club with higher aspirations, especially at European level, to finish making that leap that will confirm him as one of the most dominant defenders of the next decade’.
Conte could be the man to make him achieve that at Tottenham, as they explain the manager ‘has been one of the great supporters’ of the 23-year-old ever since they first worked together at Inter.
Thus, he is ‘seeking to do the same’ in London as he did in Milan with Bastoni.
