Turkish newspaper A Spor claim Aston Villa striker Mbwana Samatta is on the verge of signing for Fenerbahce.
The Tanzanian striker has been heavily linked with the Turkish club and A Spor say his loan move is imminent. Yesterday it was claimed he could sign this week.
Samatta wasn’t involved in Aston Villa’s victory over Sheffield United on Monday evening, and the Turkish TV channel believe the reason is because he’ll be soon heading to Istanbul.
The Yellow Canaries are in the market for a striker after recently selling Vedat Muriqi to Lazio for €20m. Earlier reports said they were interested in signing Porto’s Ze Luis, but it seems they will instead bring in Samatta.
With the recent arrivals at Villa Park it looks like the player would have struggled to get games this season, so a loan move is a good compromise if there’s no way of recouping the expense of his signing.
The 27-year-old joined Villa from Genk for €10m in the winter transfer window and is under contract at the club until June 2024.
