With the past few days all being about Aaron Hickey, you could have been forgiven to think that a new left-back is all Mikel Arteta wants at Arsenal this summer.
However, there are many other areas of the pitch the Gunners need to strengthen to carry on their upwards trajectory.
Striker is certainly one of them, but it appears right-back is also an area where depth is wanted, if the reported pursuit from Arsenal for Nahuel Molina is to be believed.
The 24-year-old, currently at Udinese, is an alleged target for the London side, with TuttoUdinese explaining they ‘continue to follow’ the Argentine, as he is ‘one of the goals for the next summer transfer market’.
In fact, in order to convince the Pozzo family, who own the Serie A side, Arsenal ‘would like to include in the negotiation the transfer of Pablo Marí’, who is currently out on loan there for the season.
That being said, these claims have been going on for a while, and it appears Udinese’s general manager, Franco Collavino, is trying to downplay everything for the time being.
Speaking to Il Gazzettino and relayed by TuttoUdinese, the club chief said, talking about Marí: “He showed leadership and personality, but he is from Arsenal. For now, there is nothing concrete.”
When you think about it, with both Takehiro Tomiyasu, who arrived last summer, and Cédric Soares capable of playing down the right-hand side of the defence, getting Molina isn’t really a priority right now.
In fact, we’d wager that signing a striker might be higher up the priority list at the Emirates these days.
