Following the takeover of Newcastle United, the Magpies have seen their fortunes change quite considerably.
The Magpies have gone from battling against relegation to fighting for a Champions League spot in the space of a year, in part thanks to the great work from Eddie Howe, but also due to the money invested by their new owners.
However, it appears some shares are still up for grabs at the club, as an article from La Gazzetta del Mezzogiorno claims that James Pallotta, once linked with a takeover of Newcastle, was offered a chance to acquire some.
This comes amid links the former AS Roma owner could consider buying Bari should they get promoted to Serie A, since the De Laurentiis family would have to relinquish ownership due to their ties with Napoli.
This is where Pallotta comes in, with the aforementioned newspaper stating the American billionaire businessman is ‘firmly intending to return to football’ and a team in Italy ‘remains at the top of his preferences’.
So much so, in fact, that he has ‘given up on a recent and attractive proposal to acquire shares’ of Newcastle.
An interesting tidbit of information about what could be going on behind the scenes at St James’ Park these days.
