Roman Abramovich has made an offer to buy Spanish side Valencia once the sale of Chelsea has been completed.

That’s according to rival bidder Miguel Zorío, who claims current Valencia owner Peter Lim has leaked the Russian’s proposal to the media.

As you’ll be aware, Abramovich is in the process of selling Chelsea after being sanctioned by the UK government following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

That process is still ongoing but appears to be nearing a conclusion, with the UK having pushed for it to happen sooner rather than later.

What Abramovich will do after that has been the subject of speculation, with him making it clear he would not be leaving Chelsea if he were not being forced to do so.

It now appears he will be returning to football ownership elsewhere, with Valencia the subject of his interest.

Plaza Deportivo report that potential buyer Miguel Zorío this week sent out a letter to the media announcing he will be holding a press conference on April 27th to present his offer to buy shares from Peter Lim and make clear the state of the club under his leadership.

In this letter, Zorío claims that Lim has ‘leaked’ the news that he has an offer from Abramovich to buy the club.

“Peter Lim has tried to sell the club in London for 250 million euros and has not succeeded,” he is reported as saying.

“Lately, he has leaked to international media that he has two purchase offers, mine and that of the Russian oligarch of Chelsea.

“And from here, I tell him that either he puts 50 million every year to compensate for the losses he generates or he sells to us. Whether he likes it or not.”

Zorío’s battle for the club comes after years of financial mismanagement under Lim, which has saw the club slide down La Liga and face financial ruin.

Indeed, he believes the club will be on the verge of dissolution come June, hence his efforts to buy out Lim and mount a rescue mission of the Spanish club, where he was once vice-president.

It seems, though, Lim has other plans and has made efforts to drag Abramovich into the mix now he is being forced to sell Chelsea.

At the minute, it appears the Russian oligarch isn’t all that keen, but that could always change once the sale at Stamford Bridge is completed.
