If it wasn’t clear before that a new manager is desperately needed at Tottenham as soon as possible, the 6-1 defeat at the weekend will have done it.
The problem for Spurs is they don’t have anyone lined up willing to take over now, with managers such as Arne Slot unavailable until the end of the season.
The Dutchman has long been linked with a move to Tottenham, and the latest in the Netherlands is that he would earn a lot more with a move to London, as explained by Valentijn Driessen, speaking to Today Inside, relayed by Soccer News.
The De Telegraaf journalist was asked about Slot’s current situation at Feyenoord, who are trying to renew their manager to avoid him leaving for more profitable pastures.
Driessen then mentioned Tottenham saying: “Feyenoord would like to keep him and I believe they are discussing the contract. [He currently earns] €2m. That could soon go to €5m net, if he goes to Spurs. Then the choice is easy, isn’t it?”
As for how much compensation the Eredivisie would ask for their manager if Spurs came seriously knocking for Slot, he added: “Feyenoord can ask what they want, because there is nothing in the contract.”
Everyone knows that Tottenham probably wouldn’t have a problem spending big to bring in their next manager if they believe he’s the right one, with many believing the Dutchman could do a great job in London if appointed.
His Feyenoord side currently top the Dutch league with four games to go, sitting eight points clear of second placed PSV Eindhoven.
