Fotomac claim Chinese clubs were interested in signing Galatasaray’s Garry Rodrigues last month, but the efforts were rebuffed by the Turkish side.
The Cape Verde international has been strongly linked with Newcastle United in recent months, following reports the Premier League side have tabled bids for the player.
The Turkish newspaper report Rodrigues was getting interest from China towards the end of the Chinese transfer window.
However, the Galatasaray board were keen to keep hold of the winger at least until the end of the season because he’s become a key player for Faith Terim’s side in recent weeks.
Interest from Chinese clubs comes after Newcastle United’s attempts to sign Rodrigues in January, when it was reported they’d tabled a bid of €8m for the attacker.
This was instantly rejected by the Turkish giants, as Newcastle United’s offer didn’t meet their valuation of the player.
It’s expected Newcastle United will come back in for Rodrigues in the summer transfer window, but may need to bid up to €20m.
