It’s hard to overestimate the excitement there was in Chile around Alexis Sanchez’s move to Manchester United. The media were over the top excited, so there was always likely to be a come down of some level when reality hit.

Sanchez hasn’t been great since his switch from Arsenal, something which is a source of joy for Gunners. But their schadenfreude was meaningless at the weekend, as Manchester United won, regardless of how Sanchez played, and Arsene Wenger’s men put in a limp performance at Wembley.

The Chilean may not be doing brilliantly but Hector Bellerin’s recent comments about Sanchez’s desire to win perhaps becoming annoying at Arsenal again came back to bite the Gunners on Sunday.

Arsenal is no longer the worry of the Chilean and now it’s Jose Mourinho and his ‘bus’. La Tercera say the manager’s plans are rigid and won’t be changing, and when Sanchez left the pitch for Eric Bailly, it was Jose’s ‘bus’ being placed in front of goal.

However, they do point out it worked, and that Jesse Lingard had a more positive impact on the match than their national hero, not all the blame for Sanchez’s mediocre start is being sent the way of Mourinho.

The 29 year old looks ‘uncomfortable’ believe La Tercera and he hasn’t been able to fit into a meaningful role at Manchester United yet. He’s being used as a ‘worker’ in the club’s system and can’t quite get the hang of things, or hasn’t yet.

Sanchez ‘does not seem to enjoy’ how he’s being used, and the former Arsenal player’s annoyance was made clear for the Chilean newspaper, with him putting his hands to his head more than once.

This certainly isn’t all finger pointing at Mourinho, and it shows Sanchez doesn’t get a free pass in his own press, with the pressure on the player to perform stretching from Santiago to Salford.
