Anderlecht’s Jérémy Doku has long been on Liverpool’s radar.

A few years ago, the Reds invited the 18-year-old to the club, and even tried to convince him to join the Merseyside club.

The forward decided against signing for the Premier League winners, and committed his future to the Belgian club by signing a contract in February. His current deal lasts until 2022.

That’s not stopped Jürgen Klopp’s side from renewing their interest in their long-term target.

On September 10th, Het Nieuwsblad reported Liverpool are planning to sign the talented youngster and allow him to return to Anderlecht on a loan deal.

It was also suggested Vincent Kompany’s side will need ‘tens of millions’ to consider selling Doku in this window.

Anderlecht CEO Karel van Eetvelt has given an interview to Het Nieuwsblad, and the Jupiler Pro League club’s chief was asked if he’s afraid of losing Doku to Liverpool.

He said: “Scared? Never. Only at a Belgian club you can never say that something is impossible.

“If, say, Liverpool suddenly come up with a crazy offer, you have to look at it. How much? I prefer not to talk about figures, but AA Gent set the tone with [Jonathan] David’s [sale to Lille]. To be clear: for now, only the media is speculating about Doku and Liverpool.”

Gent sold David to the Ligue 1 side for a reported fee of €30m. Van Eetvelt has now hinted that Liverpool would have to pay a similar fee if they want to sign Doku this summer.
